Forecast

WEATHER

  • We understand not all weather conditions make for comfortable sailing, but weather does indeed present us with adventurous sailing and opportunities to learn. If there is rain in the forecast, bring a rain coat, or better yet…a swimsuit and shampoo.

  • We are asking you to trust our ability to forecast the local conditions. If you approach us with weather concerns 2-7 days prior to your voyage, you will be asked to remain patient. If conditions are deemed unsafe or dangerous the captain will contact you to reschedule, or may refund you in full.

  • Please come prepared for adventure and know that in general our local sailing conditions are excellent.

CANCELLATION

  • You may receive a full refund, reschedule or credit, if you cancel more than 7 days ahead of your voyage. Bookings made within 7 days of your voyage will not be refunded unless weather conditions prove impossible and rescheduling is not an option.

  • Please note that cancellation policies differ for longer itineraries as they require meticulous preparation, planning and scheduling. Inquire within.

Carry ons

WHAT TO BRING

  • A good sense of humor.

  • A reusable water canteen. PLEASE DO NOT BRING single-use plastic water bottles; we have drinking water aboard to refill your canteen.

  • Snacks are always a good idea. Period.

  • A rain jacket and a warm, insulated layer of clothing. Even if it’s 80 degrees on land, it could feel like 50 degrees on the open water.

  • BYOB - at your own discretion and within reason. Please choose aluminum cans over glass. Drunks and smokers will be left on gull island.

  • Footwear. Tennis shoes with non-marking soles or deck shoes. Please avoid loose sandals, any kind of heel, or slip ons. The best shoes are no shoes.

  • Sunscreen, bug spray, hat, swimsuit, towel.

  • If you are unsure about sea-sickness, we recommend taking a non-drowsy Dramamine PRIOR to your voyage. It is key that you take it 6-12 hours in advance as it will not take effect fast enough when you are already beginning to feel ill.

WHAT WE HAVE

  • A crew with a sense of humor (please refer to the first thing you need to bring) who will enjoy putting you to work if you let us.

  • Two 11’6” inflatable paddle boards that can transition to kayaks

  • Life jackets for everyone on board (not required to wear)

  • Drinking water

  • A fridge for drinks and snacks

  • Indoor and outdoor seating

  • One head (toilet)

  • Anti - nausea medication, first aid, bug spray, water, sparkling water, ginger ale

CHILDREN & PETS

  • Children are welcome ! They will remain 100% your responsibility and we ask that you bring your own appropriately sized life jacket.

  • All children under 6 are required by the state of Michigan to wear lifejackets on any vessel underway.

  • We really love dogs and cats but not enough to risk cleaning up after them if they become unwell. Thank you for leaving them behind.

GRATUITY

  • Tipping the captain and crew is never required but greatly appreciated.
